Leighty’s WWE Main Event Review 11.13.25

-Quick plug for my WrestleMania IX Retro Review. Normally, this is where I would type “let’s get to it,” but Tommy has been using that line and has been using it longer than me. So, in deference to him, away we go.

-Announce Team: Blake Howard and Vic Joseph
-Run Time: 56:42 (without Peacock commercials)

Kit Wilson vs. Carmelo Hayes

-Wilson attacks Melo as he is making his entrance and sends him to the floor. He runs Melo into the retaining wall and sends him back into the ring. The ref separates them, and Melo says he is good, so we get an opening bell. Kit stomps away and mocks Melo’s pose. Whip, but Melo springs off with a clothesline. He fires away with right hands in the corner and after getting to five he plays to the crowd with a “6 7.” My son would be losing it right now! That’s a pretty genius way to get the kids in the crowd into the match as well. Kudos to Melo! Kit regains controls and hits a nice short arm clothesline for two. He hooks a grounded Cobra Clutch and I forget to mention Kit is rocking with white gear with red hearts all over. It’s like the boxers every man seemed to wear in sitcoms before they could show anything more scandalous. Kit with a nice jumping elbow in the corner. A second one misses and Melo starts his comeback. CHOP! Melo with a head scissors into a two count. Kit blocks a move, but misses a clothesline and Melo hits a superkick. Nothing But Net misses, but Melo lands a boot. Wilson rebounds off the ropes and hits his own clothesline. Wilson off the top with an elbow but it only gets two. Good near fall there! Kit argues with the ref and ends up walking into First 48 for the pin at 5:38.

Winner: Carmelo Hayes via pin at 5:38
-Fun sprint! Wilson has been fun on this show the few times they have used him. He got to show out a bit before Hayes got the win. I enjoyed this. ***

-Peacock commercials!

-Back to RAW as John Cena works Boston for the last time. He gets to thank the fans and puts over the Last Time is Now Tournament. Dirty Dom interrupts and the crowd is not happy to see him. He wants to know what Hunter is going to do about last week as he was interrupted by his deadbeat dad. Cena tries to interject and Dom tells him he is better than him and can beat him in any era. Cena tells him they are in Boston and tonight he is invincible. Cena gives him a chance to walk as he respects Rey, but Dom can’t help himself and HHH makes the match.

-We get the match joined in progress and it had the smoke and mirrors you would expect, but CRAZY crowd heat. Dom got to kick out of an AA and crushed it in this big of spot. They didn’t go crazy with what they did in the ring, but they didn’t know too. Dom hits The Frog Splash but Cena rolls him into an AA and for the first time in his career becomes IC Champion to a MONSTER POP. Good stuff! Cena gets pyro after the win which kind of proves Chelsea’s point that Aldis has it out for her.

-Peacock commercials!

-WWE Shop commercial!

-Back to RAW as CM Punk holds court and calls out Logan Paul. He notes Punk is getting cracked every week and Punk just wants to fight. Logan just keeps talking and says after taking a TSUNAMI his eyes were open to a whole new Vision. Paul Heyman is out first and then The Brons. Punk doesn’t back down and challenges all five (Paul counts as two apparently). Jey Uso is out first to back Punk and then Cody’s music hits to even things. The brawl is on and we know where this is going. Team Punk stands tall this week.

-Peacock commercials!

-Roman Reigns WrestleMania commercial!

-Back to SmackDown from 8 days ago as we see the end of Cody/Black. Drew McIntyre returns and hits the ref with a Claymore. Aldis suspends Drew and I am sure we won’t be seeing him for quite some time. Probably out shooting a movie or something.

New Day (w/ Grayson Waller) vs. Alpha Academy (w/ Maxxine Dupri)

-I can’t remember the last time we had New Day on this show. I think Woods may have had a single’s match at some point in the last 5.5 years I have been covering this show. Makes sense that New Day showing up on Main Event means they face the Work Horses of Main Event. Woods shoots in for a leg and yeah, not happening. Woods avoids a splash in the corner and pounds away with forearms to the back. Kofi in and New Day go crazy with hammer fists in the corner. Otis runs through a double clothesline and drops both members of New Day with one. He brings Tozawa in and uses him like Terry Funk would do with a ladder. Otis gives Tozawa a slap to get him going and he slings over the top with a dive on New Day as we take a break at 1:35.

-60 seconds Peacock commercials!

-Nov 18 and Nov 25: NXT Gold Rush at The Theater in MSG. Titles from NXT, AAA, and TNA will be defended.

-Back at 2:55 with Waller distracting Tozawa which lets Kofi knock him off the apron. He works Tozawa over in the corner and brings Woods in and we get quick tags in and out as the go through the stomping stampede. I always liked that spot and it works whether they are heel or face. Woods hits a JJ strut and then drops an elbow for two. Tozawa blocks a suplex and gets a small package for two. Tozawa gets trapped in the corner though and Woods hits a shoulder tackle. Nice double team from New Day as Kofi hits a leg drop out of a wheelbarrow position. Woods back in and he hits a big boot. Woods throws Kofi off his shoulders into a moonsault, but Tozawa gets the knees up. He sends Woods to the floor and hot tag is made to Otis. Spinning back first to Kofi. A splash to each in the corner and then a World’s Strongest Slam to Woods. CATERPILLAR, but Kofi makes the save. Tozawa in and he heads up top but Waller knocks him off balance. Otis gets dumped to the floor and Day Break finishes Tozawa at 8:34.

Winners: New Day via pin at 8:34
-Solid tag match as one would expect. They started cooking, but then it just kind of ended as they were rolling. **1/2

-Back to SmackDown as Lash Legend popped up to help Nia Jax get a win over Charlotte Flair. Late, The Kabuki Warriors attack Bliss and Charlotte backstage.

-RAW this week is at MSG: John Cena’s Final RAW. I bet they give him some kind of match where he defends The IC Title. He can beat JD or someone like that.

-Also this week on RAW: Evans vs GUNTHER in the Last Time is Now Tournament. I didn’t know I needed that match until it was announced. How hard is GUNTHER going to chop Evans and how far across MSG is he going to throw him?

-Also, also, Solo vs. a mystery opponent in the Last Time is Now Tournament. Say him name?

-Also, also, also it’s Becky Lynch defending her IC Title against Maxxine.

-Back to RAW as The Kabuki Warriors become Women’s Tag Champions again. They get the win over Alexa/Charlotte thanks to some help from Nia and Lash. Iyo is out to help and then the roof blows off as Rhea is out to even the sides and they don’t need Regal as Rhea gets to him the WARGAMES line.

-Thanks for reading!

This show continues to deliver what I want from the two matches. Kit and Melo had a good showing and I enjoyed every second of it. The Tag Match was fun, and those two teams tend to always deliver when given a chance. The recap stuff is there for people who don't watch RAW which is fine as it always comes back to the two matches. My rule is if either match gets to *** or better, it makes it a good show. This satisfied that rule.
