WWE News: Hugo Knox Discusses His Move to Wrestling, Neville’s Fandom for Newcastle Spotlighted
– The Burton Mail recently interviewed NXT prospect Stuart Tomlinson aka Hugo Knox. The former soccer goalkeeper discussed his move from soccer to wrestling, and also some of his teammates talked about the transition. Below are some highlights.
Knox on the hard work of a WWE Superstar: “You can do a little extra but the minimum requirement is you do two hours weight training at least, every day. You’ve got to be able to walk the walk and talk the talk. You’ve got everything you could need here to become a superstar.”
Knox on a knee injury ending his soccer career and his advice from the WWE medical staff: “I did a medical in Pittsburgh and they told me my knee was going to be fine. They fly you over to Pittsburgh for three days and it was a lot more involved when I did my medical here. At a football club, the physio would probably have a quick look at you, check that you can stretch, and that was pretty much it. In the WWE they check your blood, your urine, check your full body over and you get the full treatment. The company had got in touch with me and asked if I’d be interested (in having a trial). They put my sporting background together with how I looked and asked if I wanted to give it a go. I know 10,000 people applied to try to get here, to get a contract and walk in here at NXT. They’re very picky with who they choose and, luckily enough, I’m one. I left a football changing room, where you’ve got skinny lads running around for 90 minutes. But coming here you’ve got guys who pick me up like a little boy and throw me around.”
