– A man who says he witnessed the aftermath of Vince McMahon’s alleged attempted sexual assault of a woman in 2006 has commented on the claims. Deadspin has an article discussing the claims, which Daily Beast ran a story on couple of weeks ago.
The man, William Robert Wells, was listed in the police report as a witness and spoke with the site. He said he was working at a Papa John’s when the alleged victim “came in crying, and we knew it was Vince McMahon walking out, and she asked me if it would be fine if I came in the store until the cops came.” He said that he obliged the woman’s request to bring a baseball bat, noting, “I don’t know what a baseball bat’s gonna do to someone like this, but OK, I said I’ll bring one with me because hey, I’m only 17 years old at the time.”
Wells said that McMahon stared at them from his car for “a good 45 minutes” and left before the police showed up. He said that the police “didn’t really want to talk to me, honestly, and that’s probably why there’s not a lot of the statement” because he didn’t witness the actual incident.
No charges were filed due to a lack of evidence, and McMahon denied the allegations.
– Bloomberg has a story on WWE’s recent financial successes. The article looks at the rise of the company’s profits through the WWE Network and particularly notes that with a TV deal expected to be finalized this year, WWE will generate $235 million in 2018 for TV licensing deals. That’s up from $130 million four years ago in 2014.
