– WWE is reportedly trying to lock down talents into new contract deals following the Dean Ambrose choosing not to renew his contract. PWInsider reports that WWE officials were meeting with talent whose deals will expire in the next couple of years, seeking to get them to sign new five-year deals similar to the ones that Miz and Kevin Owens signed last year.

The site says it appears as if Ambrose’s departure — and the possibility of him going to AEW — was the impetus for the activity at Smackdown. PWInsider adds that several roster members “were in amazement” as they saw it all unfold. WWE confirmed publicly that Ambrose would be leaving after his contract expires post-WrestleMania.
