Conor McGregor and Holly Holm Win At ESPY Awards

MMA Junkie reports that two of the three UFC fighters nominated at the 2016 ESPY Awards won awards. Conor McGregor won “Best Fighter”, beating Robbie Lawler and boxers Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez and Roman Gonzalez. However, he lost “Best Breakthrough Athlete” to Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta. Holly Holm, meanwhile, won “Best Upset” for knocking out Ronda Rousey with a headkick, but lost “Best Play” to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ hail mary throw to Richard Rodgers.
