WWE Releases The Brooklyn Brawler
May 10, 2016 | Posted by
– While WWE has yet to announce it, PWInsider has confirmed that the company released Steve Lombardi, better known as the Brooklyn Brawler. Lombardi had been with the company for over thirty years and is perhaps the most famous enhancement talent of all-time.
Lombardi also worked under several other gimmicks including Abe “Knuckleball” Schwartz and Kim Chee over the years, and while he made rare appearances on camera over the years he was mostly used in a backstage role where he oversaw and produced promos. The site notes that Lombardi was the person that every talent had to cut promos for when trying out and he was influential in determining whether the talent would get looked at in a bigger way.
