News and Views from South of the Border 12.0510: Days Gone By

December 5, 2010 | Posted by Francisco Ramirez

Man, It has got to be one of those weeks where there is one huge story and not much else going on! Even with a big CMLL show going on it really did feel like a slow week. Anywho let’s take a look at the mailbag.

no mention of El Zorro going to TNA and what is La Parka doing in the AAA storyline now that he has moved on from La ParK
Posted By: laparkinator (Guest)

Zorro going to TNA has got to be the worst kept secret since Latin Lover jumping to CMLL! That has been all over the place since October when he had a hair vs hair match with Nicho el Millonario. Everyone knew Zorro wouldn’t lose since he was jumping ship, when that day is coming is the real question. La Parka has taken a bit of a support role since L.A. ParK, the original La Parka, arrived at AAA, while he is still prominently featured, guys like Dr. Wagner Jr., L.A. ParK, Perro Aguayo Jr. and El Mesias have taken over the main event scene. While La Parka is basically trying to figure out what is going on with Cibernetico, and who’s side the Bizarros and him are on.

Lo Bueno/The Good

Without Pity

CMLL’s last big show of the year came and went. In the main event that saw Rey Bucanero put his hair on the line against Mr. Aguilas hair ended with Rey Bucanero coming out on top and getting rid of that damn Mohawk that Mr. Aguila seemed to enjoy, another step towards the end of the already fading Indy Invader angle.

In the co-main event Electrico defeated Pequeño Black Warrior taking his mask and having him reveal his true identity as Humberto Sanchez from Mexico City with a career spanning 20 years.

Latin Lover, wait excuse me I don’t want to get sued, Latino was successful along with Mistico, Strongman and Shocker as they defeated the team of Hector Garza, Atlantis, Felino and Negro Casas.

While this was a solid show, it is now wait and see time as the 5th is about to roll around and we can see if AAA can put on a better show with Guerra De Titanes 2010.

Lo Malo/The Bad

El Hijo De Cien Caras 1978-2010

It’s always hard to see the news at night and listen to all the violence and mayhem that occurs south of the border. Unfortunately the chaos has hit a member of the world of Lucha-Libre. On the 29th of November, Eustacio Jimenez Ibarra, nicknamed Tacho, and more famously known as el Hijo de Cien Caras was murdered. Reports are saying that he sat in a car with a woman named Adela Luna when a gunman silently approached the vehicle and opened fire, killing both.

El Hijo de Cien Caras was not really the son of Carmelo Reyes, the original Cien Caras. According to some he rented the name from Carmelo Reyes. El Hijo de Cien Caras had brief stints in CMLL. He also worked for el Hijo del Santo in his Todo X Todo promotion. His last work was with AAA and IWRG where he held the IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Titles with Mascara Año 2000 Jr.

The Meh!/ Lo Meh!

From Latin Lover to Latino

In another promotional jump, the former AAA star and male stripper Latin Lover showed up at a CMLL show and has now been signed by the promotion. While this doesn’t come as a surprise to many, the suprising part is he wasn’t brought in as one of the Indy Invaders. While the whole making a top technico a rudo isn’t that new of a concept, hell it’s as close as you can get to beating a dead horse, it might of rejuvenated the Indy Invaders concept. Then again maybe not! While the jump from AAA doesn’t come without a price as Latin Lover is now having to go through a legal battle with AAA for the Latin Lover name, in the meanwhile calling himself Latino.

Future Forecast

CMLL

With Sin Piedad being the last big show of the year you would think there wouldn’t be much to look forward to in CMLL, wrong! On the 7th of December we have a CMLL Tag Team Title defense when current champs Ultimo Guerrero and Dragon Rojo defend against the team of Hector Garza and the freshly shaved Mr. Aguila.

AAA

Guerra de Titanes is set for December 5, 2010. While that’s when this article goes live, I won’t have it covered until the following week. The main event is set between a AAA Mega Champion Dr. Wagner Jr. taking on Zorro.

Lucha Video Break

Normally I would avoid an Hijo del Solitario match like the plague, but a look back at el Hijo de Cien Caras doesn’t hurt. In this match el Hijo de Cien Caras and Mascara Año 2000 Jr. Defend the IWRG Tag Titles against Anibal Jr. and el Hijo del Solitario. Following that we have a AAA Tag Title defense between Silver Cain and Ultimo Gladiador defending their titles against el Hijo de Cien Caras and Mascara Año 2000 Jr.
