Fire On Set Of Bruce Willis Movie Kills Firefighter
TMZ reports that a fire broke out in a building on the set of the latest Bruce Willis movie last night, killing a firefighter. Willis is starring in the film Motherless Brooklyn along with Edward Norton, who also directs.
The fire broke out in the basement of the Harlem building just before 11 PM. The production crew called the authorities. The FDNY came with 44 fire trucks and 200 firefighters, as they fought the blaze before things settled down early Friday morning. Michael Davidson was killed and five other people were injured.
The producers said in a statement: “As soon as we noticed smoke coming up into our set, our crew immediately alerted the fire department and began alerting residents of the building even as we evacuated our cast and crew. We watched firsthand with astonishment as they charged into the smoke to make sure all were safely out and then fought to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.”
