Matthew Rhys Joins Tom Hanks’ Mister Rogers Biopic You Are My Friend

Matthew Rhys has joined Tom Hanks in You Are My Friend, the biopic about Mister Rogers. THR reports that Rhys (The Americans) will play Tom Junod, the journalist whose real-life friendship with Rogers inspired the film.

You Are My Friend looks at the friendship that developed when Junod begrudgingly accepted an assignment to write a profile piece on the children’s programming host and found his perspective on life transformed. Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster wrote the scrupt for the film, which releases on October 18th, 2019.
