A Labyrinth sequel is officially moving ahead, with Doctor Strange helmer Scott Derrickson set to direct. Deadline reports that Derrickson will direct the planned sequel, which is based on a script by Maggie Levin (Into the Dark).

Plot details on the sequel aren’t yet known. Fede Alvarez was previously attached to direct a sequel, but that is no longer the case. The film will be produced by Lisa Henson of The Jim Henson Company. Brian Henson and Derrickson will executive produce along with C. Robert Cargill with Blanca Lisa overseeing for The Jim Henson Company.

The original 1986 film has remained incredibly popular since becoming a cult classic, even inspiring its own board game recently. The film starred David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly and told the tale of a girl who heads into another world and travels a maze to save her kidnapped brother from the Goblin King after she impulsively wished him away.
