As we previously reported, AEW Dynamite defeated NXT in the ratings again, although it was a slim margin and both shows saw significant drops. Dynamite had 677,000 viewers and a 0.23 rating, while NXT had 673,000 and a 0.16 rating. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has a detailed breakdown of the numbers including by quarter. It’s believed that both shows were hurt by NASCAR and news coverage.

AEW’s viewership number is the second lowest in history while NXT’s rating is one of its lowest ever in the 18-49 demographic. AEW was down 7.3% in viewers (ranked #14 on cable) and 20.9% in 18-49, while NXT (ranked #35) was down 5.9% in viewers and 17.1% in 18-49. When it comes to non-news shows, AEW was #5, only behind MTV’s Challenge Total Madness, NASCAR on FS1, Forged: Beat the Judges on History and the film Blockers (starring John Cena) on FX. NXT would have been #13 without news coverage.

The AEW audience was older than normal as it’s 50+ numbers were up and every other demo was down. It also had big drops for under 35. NXT also did poorly in 18-34. However, AEW did win in all categories. It had 51,000 viewers (down 32%) in males 18-34, 22,000 (down 56.9%) in women 18-34, 147,000 (down 9.8%) in men 35-49 and 76,000 (down 10.6%) in women 35-49. NXt had 31,000 viewers in men 18-34 (down 31.1%), 20,000 in women 18-34 (down 33.3%), 106,000 in men 35-49 (down 10.9%) and 56,000 in women 35-49 (down 11.1%). NXT won the first hour and NXT won the second, meaning NXT’s numbers got stronger and AEW’s dropped off. Here’s a quarter-by-quarter breakdown for AEW:
