Fede Alvarez Shares Unseen Alternate Ending For Evil Dead Reboot
Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead reboot had a different ending than seen in the final cut, and Alvarez finally revealed it on Twitter. The theatrical cut of the 2013 film sees Mia (Jane Levy) prove victorious against the evil force summoned by the Necronomicon and leaving to search for help.
Alvarez posted to Twitter to celebrate the nine-year anniversary of the film, revealing the alternate ending that was shot which features a POV shot of the evil racing out of the cabin toward Mia, who turns around and screams. Alvarez also shared a script page of yet another ending, which would have seen Mia literally explode from the possession we see in the alternate scene.
Alvarez wrote:
“This is what was written originally. But Sam Raimi (wisely) pointed out “after everything she’s been through, she deserves to live” so I rewrote it to the actual ending.” ([Levy] let out one of her best screams in the movie on this take)”
Evil Dead Rise, which will not (that we know of) feature Levy’s character, is set to release on HBO Max later this year.
Here it is. This is what was written originally. But Sam Raimi (wisely) pointed out “after everything she’s been through, she deserves to live” so I rewrote it to the actual ending. (@jcolburnlevy let out one of her best screams in the movie on this take) #EvilDead9years pic.twitter.com/q0PFWCT7Pw

Here. I found the page from the first draft. There was a bit more action to follow the force catching up with her. #EvilDead9years pic.twitter.com/hJ7UAB6k4K
