Sony Delays Madame Web, Sets Insidious 5 Release Date
Sony is pushing one its Spider-Verse films back a few months in Madame Web, with Insidious 5 taking its release date. Variety reports that the studio is pushing the Dakota Johnson-starring Spider-Man Universe film from July 7th, 2023 to October 6th, 2023.
No reason was given for the delay, though the studio has used that July spot to slot in the new Insidious movie. The first entry in the franchise will serve as franchise star Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut. Wilson starrs with Ty Simpkins in the follow-up to Insidous: Chapter 2 and will focus on Simpkins’ Dalton Lambert beginning college when the family’s history of possession comes back into play.
Madame Web stars Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahir Rahim, Mike Epps and Adam Scott and is directed by S.J. Clarkson screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. It will center on the titular character who was Cassandra Webb in Marvel Comics, a woman from Salem, Oregon who was blind and had a neurological condition that gave her psychic abilities.
