NWA Alumnus Tommy Seigler Passes Away

Tommy Seigler, who held several NWA championships in the 1960s and 1970s, has passed away. Fightful reprots that Seigler passed away on Monday. No cause of death has been revealed. He was 84 years old.

Seigler began his wrestling career in 1963 when he was noticed by local wrestlers in Pensacola, Florida and convinced to give the industry a go. He worked part-time until 1969, when he made it his full-time career. He and Argentina Apollo won the NWA Macon Tag Team Championship in November of 1972. Seigler would move to All-Star Wrestling Alliance and in July of 1973 he won the All-South Wrestling Georgia Television Championship from Ox Baker. He also held the All-South Wrestling Alliance Georgia Tag Team Championship alongside Super Gladiator that year.

He would go on to win several NWA championships in the late 1970s including the NWA Southeastern Television Championship, the NWA Florida Television Championship and the NWA British Commonwealth Heavyweight Championship. The latter title was one he held into he was forced to retire in 1978 after he suffered three ruptured discs in his lower back during a match against The Iron Sheik in Singapore.

Following his retirement, he worked in law enforcement and served as the head of security for the Anderson County Historic Courthouse from 2001 until late 2019, when he retired.
