RJ City Recalls How Ben Mankiewicz Got Involved With AEW

TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz has appeared on AEW TV several times, and RJ City recently recalled how Mankiewicz got involved in the company. The voice of TCM has appeared as part of Toni Storm’s “Timeless” character and City spoke on Francine’s Eyes Up Here podcast about how it came about.

“I think there is a lot out there that is more simpler than it is,” City said (per Fightful). “The real story is a lot more complex. I always throw out ideas when it comes to capturing cinema, that kind of thing. ‘What about this old movie? What about that old movie?’ I guess, in a sense, I am a cinema consultant. In a sense. I’m helping the crew capture the essence of Toni Storm.”

He continued, “In the beginning, I was in a couple of her films, I introduced a few of them. I will take credit, despite what Tony Khan wants to say, I will take credit for getting Ben Mankiewicz involved. That was me because I said, ‘Hello, I’m not Ben Mankiewicz’ on Dynamite. That turned into us being able to work with him, which was the highlight of my life.”
