DC Studios Sets Clayface Movie From Mike Flanagan For 2026 Release
DC Studios is set to release a Clayface film written by Mike Flanagan in 2026. As Deadline reports, the studio announced on Friday that Clayface will release on September 11th, 2026.
Plot details are being kept under wraps for the film, which is being produced by Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris. Clayface was originally Basil Karlo in the DC Comics, one of Batman’s better-known villains and a horror actor who becomes living clay with the ability to transform himself. A number of other characters have taken the identity including Matt Hagen in the 1960s, Preston Payne in the late 1970s and Sondra Fuller (aka Lady Clay) in the 1980s, though Karlo is the best-known and most commonly-used person in the identity.
Clayface will be appearing in several episodes of the new Creature Commandos series that launched on Max last week, which shares continuity with the rest of the new DC Universe. No word on a director for the new film, as Flanagan is busy on other projects.
The studio also announced the release of their collaboration with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Dynamic Duo, on June 30th, 2028. That animated film is directed by Arthur Mintz and will be the origin story of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
