UPDATED: The latest report regarding WWE’s September PLE has revealed the potential name. The WrestleVotes Twitter account reports that on “September 20th, it’s a ‘Wrestlepalooza'”
Wrestlepalooza is the name of a former ECW event. It should be noted that Wrestlepalooza is currently a trademark owned by F1RST Wrestling, who ran a Wrestlepalooza event in January.
ORIGINAL: A new report has an update on WWE’s September PLE, and a rumor that it could air on ESPN. As previously reported, the words is that WWE is planning to run a PLE on September 20th, which if true would run opposite AEW All Out. PWInsider reports that there has been talk within the broadcast industry that the event, which is scheduled for Indianapolis, could end up being an extra event that airs on ESPN as a preview for the company’s new deal with the network’s streaming app starting in April of next year.
The reports points out that there is no PLE scheduled for Peacock in September currently, while two aired/will air in August between Summerslam at the start of the month and Clash in Paris on August 31st. The report notes according to the site’s sources, WWE plans to announce the PPV and where it will air sometime this week. ESPN declined to comment on the report.
It was noted last week that John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar is planned as the main event of the September show.
