The next Final Destination movie has zeroed in on its director. THR reports that New Line has set their sights on Brazilian director Michiel Blanchart to helm the next film in the supernatural horror franchise. Sources say no offer has been made as of now, but that Blanchart became the studio’s top pick after a quick but “intense” search.
Blanchart will make his English-language directing debut with the film. He broke out with his directorial debut, the action-thriller Night Call, which earned plenty of praise and won best film among the Belgian Film Critics Association for 2024.
The next film in the horror franchise will follow up on Final Destination: Bloodlines, which revived the series after 14 years. It became one of the biggest horror hits of the year with $138.1 million domestically and $314.6 million worldwide, both records for the series by large margins, amid very positive reviews.
No word on when the new film will begin production or release. Lori Evans Taylor, who co-wrote Bloodlines, is back to write the script for the new movie.
