A new report reveals new details on Ridge Holland’s exit from WWE, including a bit more context on WWE’s plan to release him last year. As reported, WWE terminated Holland’s contract early on November 5th. The decision came after Holland posted on social media saying that he felt “hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE.” Holland’s deal was set to run through November 14th, so he was released nine days early.
The WON reports a few more details on their report yesterday about Holland being almost released last year. According to the new report, Holland asked to stay and work in NXT with a pay cut. WWE’s stance is that Holland should have known that he was probably going to be released when his contract was up, and should have prepared his finances such. Dave Meltzer noted that this is a matter of TKO’s focusing on being “pure business” and not doing “favors” if they don’t believe talent is of value to them.
Meltzer notes that, assuming Holland was making between $350,000 to $500,000 on his previous deal, the 55% pay cut that he took would put him at $157,750 to $225,000. As noted yesterday, a GoFundMe has been set up for him. That has raised $9,512 of its $60,000 goal. Chelsea Green, Raj Dhesi, Nick Jackson, Omos, and Kyle Fletcher have all donated to the GoFundMe. The GoFundMe campaign is here.
