MJF Says He’d Love To Defend His AEW World Title Against Nic Nemeth, Offers Him Shot at Championship

Who are you to doubt Nic Nemeth? It’s something AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) appears to believe, as he called into Busted Open Radio. MJF straight up offered Nic Nemeth a shot at the AEW World Title, saying he’d “love to wrestle” the former TNA and WWE World Heavyweight Champion with the AEW World Title on the line.

MJF said to Nemeth (via Fightful), “Yeah, shut your mouth. If I have to listen to you two dorks talk about music for one more second, when the only thing you should be discussing is my greatness, I’m gonna put a gun in my mouth. Listen, if you watched AEW last night, you realize the tale of the tape is this: I’m the greatest wrestler on God’s green earth. I have the championship that everybody wants. Samoa Joe wants it, Hangman (Adam Page) wants it, Swerve (Strickland) wants it, Brody King wants it, the list goes on — ya mama wants it, everybody wants it.”

He continued with a message to Nemeth, “So enough with the music talk. Get to reviewing my show. All Elite Wrestling’s on a tear right now, and also, (Nic) Nemeth, whenever you find your balls, let me know, I’d love to wrestle you for the title as well. Good day, sir.”

Nemeth responded, noting that while he is mainly focused on regaining the TNA World Title at the moment, he’s on board with the idea. He responded to MJF’s comments by stating, “Wow, what a call. I was just offered an AEW Title shot… I’m really focused, surprisingly, on the TNA World Title tonight, possibly eve,n but wow, AEW Champion, especially with all those — you got Swerve and Hangman and Joe all going after MJF, and he’s thinking about me. I’m on board. I like that. I always wondered if he could hang in the ring. We’ll find out one day, I guess.”

MJF vs. Nic Nemeth Is Unlikely To Happen Anytime Soon

As previously reported, Nemeth signed a new contract with TNA Wrestling earlier this month. Due to TNA’s promotional partnership with WWE, a potential AEW and TNA crossover is unlikely, as long as Nemeth is under TNA contract. However, it should be noted that TNA has crossed over with AEW in the past.

Regardless, Nemeth is a highly decorated wrestling veteran. He’s a former two-time World Heavyweight Champion, NXT Champion, Intercontinental Champion, US Champion, and Tag Team Champion in WWE. In NJPW, he held the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. He’s also a former World Champion and Tag Team Champion in TNA. Nic Nemeth and MJF would certainly make for a heck of a matchup if they were to ever face one another.
