Santos Escobar was among those let go from WWE on Friday, and a new report has details on where he might land once he’s a free agent. As noted, Escobar was among the talent cuts on Friday along with the likes of Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, the Motor City Machine Guns, and more. Escobar, as you likely know, briefly exited WWE before re-signing with the company for a significant pay raise.

Fightful Select has a new update on Escobar that includes some context from when he was briefly out of contract with WWE. The site reports that CMLL expected him to join the company around that time before WWE made their offer to retain him. Sources expect that conversations with CMLL to resume now that he’s been let go. Escobar would have likely made AEW appearances had he gone to CMLL at the time.

Escobar is believed to be among those who will become a free agent in 90 days. It was believed at the time of his re-signing that his pay would have been too much to keep him on the bench, but he was not used on WWE TV and instead was sent to AAA. He is currently out of action due to a tricep injury but he is expected to be healed and close to being cleared when his 90 days is up. He is still able to use the WWE Performance Center for rehab during that time.
