Sting Appears On AEW Dynamite, Joins Tony Schiavone In Ted Turner Tribute

Sting and Tony Schiavone opened up this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite with a tribute to the late Ted Turner. As noted, the CNN founder and former WCW owner passed away on Wednesday at the age of 87. AEW kicked off Wednesday’s three-hour episode of Dynamite with the Sting and Schiavone, both WCW alumnus, coming to the ring to honor Turner.
Schiavone kicked off the show in the ring an dan In Memoriam for Turner appeared on the Tron. Schiavone discussed how Turner cared about the fans and making sure wrestling was on TV, noting that he saw this first-hand. He said that wrestling survives thanks to Turner, through Tony Khan and through Warner Bros. Discovery. He then introduced Sting, who came down to the ring.
The two shared some memories of Turner, with Sting praising what Turner did for wrestling and WCW in particxular when he would resist executives telling him to cut the wrestling business. He said that without Ted Turner, neither he nor Schiavone would be here, nor would the fans.
Schiavone noted that the TNT and TBS Championship sideplates tonight would pay homage to Turner before the company did a ten-bell salute for him.
