Kaitlyn Weighs In On AJ Lee’s WWE Return, Says Women’s Division Feels ‘Nostalgic’ Right Now

Kaitlyn was legitimately shocked to see AJ Lee return to WWE last year, as she noted during a recent interview. Lee of course made her return to the company in September following over 10 years away from WWE. Lee and Kaitlyn have always been close friends, and the latter was asked in an appearance on Rewind Recap Relive about what she thought of Lee’s return.
Kaitlyn said that she was completely surprised by Lee’s return, noting that she never thought it would happen. She also noted how the WWE women’s division has a bit of nostalgia going on between Lee, The Bella Twins and Paige, the latter of whom returned at WrestleMania 42. You can see the highlights below:
On Lee’s Return:
“I literally never thought that I would see the day. I never thought. And it’s — like, I have a very good friend who lives in South Florida. His name is Sam. We’ve been very close for like 10 years. Because I lived in South Florida for a long time. And he’s like an undercover wrestling fan, and so he always like texts me the wrestling tea, because I’m not that tuned into it. And he was messaging me about a potential comeback with her, and I’m like, ‘There’s no way. Like, there’s no way.’
“And her and I, it’s one of those friendships that you know, you don’t see each other for five years. And then you see each other and it’s like, ‘Oh my god.’ And you just pick back up. That’s the type of friendship that we have. But I was shocked. And it’s cool, because I felt like a fan, you know? Like, ‘Oh my god, hell froze over.’ And especially with all the stuff that happened with CM Punk, and I think when she was leaving it was pretty difficult.
On the Nostalgia of the Women’s Division Right Now:
“So it’s just cool. And then I guess right now it’s like this weird nostalgic time. Because the Bellas are back, and then Paige is back, yeah. So, that’s pretty cool to see, especially after like this whole massive — everything evolves. Everything evolves, right? But specifically women’s wrestling. That’s such a huge topic of like how far it’s come. Especially me being where I was at that time.”
