The WWE and AAA Tag Team Championships will be on the line in the first match announced for next week’s episode of WWE Smackdown. Friday night’s show saw the reveal that Damian Priest and R-Truth will put the titles on the line against the War Raiders, a match that was set up back on the July 3rd episode of the show.
That episode saw Priest & Truth agree to a title vs. title match with the War Raiders, but no date was set. The match was made official on tonight’s show when the R-Truth approached Priest, who said that the match was booked for next week.
Priest and Truth are the current WWE Tag Team Champions, and have been for 106 days. They defeated Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga for the titles on the March 20th episode of WWE Smackdown.
Meanwhile, The War Raiders have held the AAA World Tag Team Championships for 35 days. They captured the titles from Psycho Clown and Pagano at AAA Noche de Los Grandes on May 30th.
Next week’s WWE Smackdown is the final show before SummerSlam and takes place from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The show airs live on USA Network in the US and Netflix internationally.
