Jason Earles Reacts To John Cena Meme, Cena Finding Out They’re the Same Age

During a recent appearance on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, actor Jason Earles of Kickin’ It and Hannah Montana fame shared his thoughts on the memes about him being the same age as John Cena.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon spoke to Cena about his guest appearance on the hit Disney sitcom back in 2010. Cena appeared in the series opposite Earles, who portrayed Jackson Ray in the series. However, Cena was shocked to learn from Fallon that he and Earles were the same age when Cena worked on the series, being born only days apart.

Jason Earles on How the John Cena Meme Started

“It was years later that one of those, you know, meme websites or whatever figured out that we were the same age, and then they took that picture of us on set and were like, ‘Crazy fact of the day,’ You know, Jason and John Cena are like literally three days apart. And for 15 years, people have been sending me that meme of the two of us together. And it was maybe two months ago. Did you see the Jimmy Fallon? So about two months ago, John Cena is on Jimmy Fallon, and he’s like, ‘Hey, so your first job was like on Hannah Montana.”

“He was like, “Yeah, yeah, it was awesome. Such a good time.’ And Jimmy’s like, ‘So, did you get a chance to meet Miley [Cyrus]?’ And he’s like, ‘No, I didn’t, but I worked with some kid.’ And then so Jimmy like pulls out a picture, and it’s of me when John Cena has got me over his shoulder, and he’s getting ready to throw him, and he’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, yeah, that’s the kid.’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, this is Jason. He play he played Jackson,’ and he was like, ‘Did you know that you guys are the same age?’ And John was like, ‘What?’ And so it was the first time that John Cena had ever heard that we were the same age.

On Recreating the Moment With Cena at a Convention

“And for 15 years I’ve been wondering, like, did John Cena know, like, has anybody ever gone up to him and been, ‘ Did you guys know you were the same age? Cuz very year for my birthday, people send that to me. And then, at one of the conventions that I’ve done recently, just a couple weeks ago, just a couple weeks ago, John was there, and he was so nice. We were able to recreate our little picture like, you know, 15 years later or whatever. He was very funny about it.”
