During a recent interview with Muscle Memory’s Muscle Man Malcolm, WWE Superstar Roxanne Perez discussed competing at AAA TripleMania 34, potentially feuding with AJ Lee, and more. Below are some highlights:
Roxanne Perez on How Much It Means for Her To Work With AAA
“Oh, it means so much to me, especially because everybody knows that I started training really young. I started training when I was 13. Um, and I knew that I couldn’t starting that young. You know that you can’t really get too many opportunities because you do have to wait until you’re a legal adult. Um, so I think my mindset was just like, okay, um, I know I have a couple years to go, but I’m going to use all of these years to get as great as I can, so when the opportunity comes, I’m so ready. So when I was 16, I actually got invited by AAA to come and be a part of it and train there and be a part of their shows. And that was so special to me because that was like one of my first opportunities that I got on the indies. Um, and I wasn’t able to walk through that door because I was so young and my parents were just not fully about all of that yet.”
“So, so I didn’t get that opportunity, but now, now I’m kicking the door down, and I’m here, and I’m not asking anybody for permission. I’m here, and I’m going to take over AAA. Just watch. And I’m going to become Reina de Reinas Campiona.”
On Hitting John Cena With the Pop Rox at Survivor Series
“Oh my god, that felt so good. Especially because as a kid I was all for the heels. I don’t know what it was, but I think I was just a bad, bad little kid, and I loved the heels. So, I hated John Cena. And I remember being in the crowd, and you know the, ‘Let’s go, Cena! Cena sucks!’ My stepdad took me to my first ever show. He surprised me, and I was probably like 11 at the time, and I remember them chanting that and me going to my dad and being like, ‘Can I say sucks?’ He’s like, ‘Of course you can.’ So, I was having the time of my life doing that. Fast forward 14 years later, I’m in the ring retiring John Cena because everybody likes to think that it was Gunther, but it was actually the prodigy Roxanne Perez.”
On If She Wants To Wrestle AJ Lee
“I think yes 100%. I would love to wrestle AJ L, ee and I would love to retire Miss AJ Lee.
On Giving AJ Lee a Reason Not To Be in WWE
“Well, where is she? Where is she? Clearly, she doesn’t want to be here. So she wants to come one more time. Then I can actually give her a reason to not be here.”
At last night’s AAA TripleMania 34: Night 1, Roxanne Perez defeated Faby Apache, La Hiedra, and Nattie Neidhart in a Fatal 4-Way match. With the victory, she will challenge the AAA Reina De Reinas Champion at Worlds Collide. Her opponent will be decided at tomorrow’s Night 2 in the match between Flammer and La Catalina.
