WWE Announces First-Round Matches For NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tonight

WWE has announced the first two matches for the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic on the September 22 episode of NXT.

The Creed Brothers will enter the tournament against Harley Riggins and Jax Presley in one of the first-round matches tonight. Julius and Brutus Creed previously won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2022. The other announced first-round match will see Los Americanos face Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar. Rayo Americano and Bravo Americano will represent Los Americanos in the opening-round bout.

The ninth edition of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic returns to NXT after two years. The 2026 tournament features a 14-team field, including teams from WWE RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and Evolve, as well as its sister promotion, AAA. The Vanity Project, who currently hold the NXT Tag Team Championship, received a first-round bye into the quarterfinals. The Wagner Brothers, who are the AAA Tag Team Champions, have also received a bye into the next round.

Other teams include Fraxiom, DarkState, the Tokyo Bad Boys, Shido Ash and Viktor Zanov. Hank and Tank, along with Mini Vikingo and Chazz “Starboy” Hall, are also part of the tournament.

The episode will also feature Kelani Jordan and Zaria taking on La Catalina and Thea Hail. Zilla Fatu, Sean Legacy, and Dorian Van Dux are also scheduled to compete in a six-man tag team match against BirthRight.
