Keep Refreshing For The Latest Results

Alright everyone, it’s Friday and Halloween is tomorrow but tonight on WWE Smackdown we’ve got “Danhausen’s Very Nice, Very Evil Smackdown” to check out. We’ve got a couple of title matches again tonight, the WWE women’s belt is on the line as Chelsea Green defends against Nikki Bella with the obvious note that everyone’s still waiting on Tiffany Stratton cashing in on Green. They’ve literally been coping and pasting Tiffany’s current briefcase bit with her last one, right down to Dominik Mysterio dragging Liv Morgan out of the ring which apparently stops the cash in. Also WWE champion Sami Zayn will defend against US champion Trick Williams, expect Damian Priest to get involved and attack Trick given how last week went. AAA cruiserweight champion Rey Fenix will defend his belt against Ricky Saints again, so there’s that. Next week, in a pre-taped edition of Smackdown, we’ll get CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens so expect something between them tonight. At Crown Jewel Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton meet in a Last Man Standing match, Cody’s been standing tall lately so expect Randy to get the upper hand tonight on any interaction. Blake Monroe is ready to move on from Giulia, not sure where she’ll focus her attention though. The tag division is still a giant mess, Jordynne Grace is MIA, Drew McIntyre at this point is likely saving his return for the Rumble, and Gunther is likely to mess with Danhausen again while Finn Balor makes a sporadic appearance. Crown Jewel is two weeks away, and TKO is hoping no major violence breaks out in the region, so let’s see what else WWE has in store as we build to that event.

We open with a special intro in black and white hosted by Danhausen in the style of a 50’s Universal monster flick. Danhausen runs down the card for us. We’re going to reveal Danhausen’s most recent evil experiment tonight as well, the thing under the cloth.

Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcome us to Charleston, West Virginia for the show then we see various wrestlers arrive and walk around the venue.

We see the entrance stage, which is decorated for Halloween. Up first tonight is Cody Rhodes to a big pop. Suited and booted Cody makes his way to the ring as commentary remind us Cody Punted Baron Corbin back to catering a couple of weeks ago. Cody gets a mic and plays with the crowd, he wants to talk about Randy Orton and Crown Jewel. He’s never been in a Last Man Standing match but the concept is simple as well as barbaric. Next he reminds us of the rules for that match. He wants to do something a little different with his time tonight, he’d like to apologize. Apologize because Randy has a wonderful wife and five kids, plus fans in ever arena around the world, and he’s sorry for what he’s going to do to Randy. He shows off pictures of his face in the aftermath of their Mania match, a moment that should have been a milestone for Cody turned into this. Randy doesn’t just have a receipt coming, Cody’s going to bankrupt him. The spirit of everyone Randy has Punted will be loaded into Cody’s leg when it blasts across Randy’s oversized skull. And whoever wins between them should get a WWE title shot, the last man standing will be the only man Punting and that will be Cody. Solid promo from Cody, his fire is always admirable but they’re really putting themselves in a corner with this because if Cody falls short against Randy it’s all for naught.

We recap some stuff from RAW, the very obvious repeat of Tiffany failing to cash in just like last time.

In the back Cathy talks with Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton. Tiffany says Liv Morgan survives only because of Judgement Day and she’ll cash in on her eventually. Green says once she wins at Crown Jewel and Tiffany cashes in they’ll be the best duo in WWE. Green is dressed like Nikki Bella and says her costume is that of a monster. As Green leaves here’s Danhausen shows up and offers Tiffany a jar of teeth for her briefcase of human monies. Tiffany leaves and Danhausen thinks Cathy scared of Tiffany.

To the ring and here’s Nikki Bella walking while we head to break.

We come back and here comes Green.

Match #1 – WWE Women’s Title Match: (c) Chelsea Green vs. Nikki Bella

They tie up, then tease finishers that don’t land and stand off. Cole is already confusing Green and Nikki since Green is dressed like Nikki. Green avoids a Rack Attack and hits some Japanese armdrags. Corner Flatliner from Green then she heads up top, Nikki climbs up with her then just kind of awkwardly pulls Green down. They head to the floor and Nikki throws Green around the barricades a few times. Back in the ring Nikki hits a Bella Buster for a 2 count. That sends us to break.

Some very weak body blows from Green then she runs into a spinebuster for another 2 count. Some corner work from Nikki then a suplex that looked less than stellar. Incredibly weak kicks and stomps from Nikki, good heavens these two have no oomph on their offense. Green fights upright but Nikki cuts her off with a knee to the face. Nikki winds up on the floor and Green follows with a suicide dive that connects. Back in the ring they trade slaps then Green starts firing up with some of her usual offense as we rejoin the broadcast. Green heads up top but misses a flying nothing, then Nikki with a truly awful second rope kick for a 2 count. Nikki misses a Broski Boot then Green with a mid rope double knee attack. Rough Rider from Green gets a 2 count. Nikki avoids an Unpretty Her and tries the Fearless Lock, man that is just a bad looking hold. Green fights free but Nikki finally lands an elbow that looks decent, then hits a Rack Attack but they’re in the ropes so no pin count. Small Package from Green gets the 3 count.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Chelsea Green retained the title in 8:02

Rating: 1.5 stars
Thoughts: This was not good, weak looking offense, slightly odd layout, no crowd investment, and frankly a bizarre finish as Green had to kind of get a very lucky win over Nikki Bella of all people.

Post match here’s Liv Morgan to make everything worse. Liv has a mic, God have mercy on our ears, and mocks Green’s match and win. She realizes that they’re a bit more alike than they thought though. Neither of them were given much of a chance when they started in WWE, but hard work and determination caused them to rise to the championship level. But there’s a big difference between them, Liv has made it to the ring now, and it’s that Liv is a real champion while Green is a joke. If Green got fired again no one would even notice. Green is just a sad panda. At Crown Jewel Green’s luck will run out and Liv will eat her alive. Tiffany’s music hits and here’s the briefcase holder. As Tiffany walks she gets jumped by Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, that lets Green hit Liv with the Unpretty Her. Tiffany whacks Perez and Raquel with the briefcase then calls for a ref. Pretties Moonsault Ever to Liv as the ref shows up, Tiffany tries to cash in again but Raquel and Perez show back up to attack the faces. Liv, who’s done her contractual selling, recovers in time to be scared off by Iyo Sky who runs down. You know, you kind of need the heels to be lying when they run down the faces and it’s unclear it Liv lied about anything she said given how WWE has presented Green.

In the back Cathy talks with WWE champion Sami Zayn. Sami whines, then says after everything he’s not dropping the title to Trick Williams. He says everything good about Trick can be bought while everything that makes Sami special aren’t for sale. He whines more and puts himself over. He’s going to beat Trick tonight and see Roman Reigns on the other side. Yawn, same thing Sami’s been saying for weeks and his good delivery can only improve that experience of hearing it so much.

After this break we’ll get another match between Rey Fenix and Ricky Saints.

We come back to a recap of Blake Monroe beating Giulia last week. In the back Cathy talks with Blake, Blake is ready to refocus on the world title. Green is choking under the pressure. Paige shows up, and Blake was a fan of her a decade ago and warns her not to stick her nose where it doesn’t belong. Paige threatens her to end the segment.

Ricky Saints is in the ring and here comes Rey Fenix.

Match #2 – AAA Cruiserweight Title Match: (c) Rey Fenix vs. Ricky Saints

Ricky attacks at the bell but Fenix is happy to fight with him. Some rope running from both men then Fenix lands a couple of chops and his very bouncy arm drag. Ricky is sent out of the ring, Fenix with a Tiger Feint kick, then a handspring fake and finally a flipping suicide dive. Back in the ring Fenix hits a crossbody for 2. Ricky sends Fenix over the ropes to the floor then lands a kick and follows him to the floor to land knees against the barricade. Ricky tosses Fenix over the announce table as we head to break.

Some ringside brawling from Ricky. Back in the ring Ricky with some mounted punches and taunting. Fenix fights back with some chops but he runs into a nice looking boot from Ricky. Some mask attacks from Ricky, Fenix chops him hard for that but Ricky kicks him down then hits a back suplex for 2. We come back to Ricky tearing Fenix’s mask again. Fenix fights back with a corner super kick then he heads up top but Ricky clocks him with a right hand. Ricky climbs up with Fenix and hits a superplex for a 2 count. Fenix avoids a corner attack then lands a flurry of kicks and the Tiger Feint wheel kick for a 2 count of his own. Release style Angels Wings from Fenix but Ricky gets a boot on the ropes to break up the pin. Fenix up top again for a springboard moonsault press for another 2 count. Now Fenix tries the rolling Cutter but Ricky avoids it and hits the Revolution DDT for a near fall. Ricky misses a second rope moonsault and Fenix lands a thrust kick. Ricky avoids another Tiger Feint wheel kick and hits a nice looking Death Valley Driver for another near fall. Ricky puts Fenix up top but Fenix counters into a powerbomb. Fenix misses a second rope moonsault but rolls through and follows up with a Cutter. Rolling Cutter from Fenix for a great near fall. Fenix puts Ricky up top and chops him, he wants the Mexican Muscle Buster but Ricky blocks that and kicks away at Fenix. Ricky tries the Revolution DDT again but Fenix counters and gets Ricky up top. Fenix hops up, but Ricky shoves him down, Fenix lands on his feet though and hits the Mexican Muscle Buster to get the pin and the win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Rey Fenix retained the title in 11:54

Rating: 3.5 stars
Thoughts: Some really nice work here, Ricky and Fenix didn’t mind being snug where appropriate and they had some great near falls down the stretch. They got a lot of quality work into their time and the little series between these two has been a night highlight for Smackdown lately.

In the back Cathy talks with Jade Cargill and her flunkies. Michin and B-Fab don’t care about how people feel. Jade talks as well, then Fatal Influence wander over so everyone can bicker at each other. That sends us to break.

We come back to Cathy talking with Trick Williams and Lil Yachty. Trick is sick of Sami acting like the WWE title changed Sami, Trick’s already beaten Sami twice and nothing has changed. Sami’s just a pig with a wig on, and Trick will walk out with two titles tonight then had to RAW and we can see something cool in trick against Roman Reigns. Yachty finds Danhausen’s lair and wanders in. A Frankenstein style gingerbread man sits up from under the cloth and Yachty looks horrified before scampering off.

To the ring, Tatum Paxley is already there with Alexa Bliss. Jade enters with the goobers in tow. Paxley attacks before the bell.

Match #3: Jade Cargill w/ Michin and B-Fab vs. Tatum Paxley w/ Alexa Bliss

Enziguri from Paxley, but Jade just overpowers her and clobbers her with a right hand. Corner work from Jade then a sliding clothesline. Paxley fights back with some elbows of her own then a corner crossbody and a shotgun dropkick. Another corner crossbody from Paxley then a leaping facebuster for a 2 count. Jade sends Paxley to the floor then follows but Paxley rams her into the ring. Paxley misses a kick, Jade sells anyway then avoids a moonsault and lands a thrust kick. Rebound knee to the head from Jade and that sends us to break.

Back in the ring Jade with some corner work. Jade salts by playing with the crowd then tosses Paxley out of the ring again, only to immediately send her back in. Has she lost her spot or something? Roll up from Paxley gets 2 then Jade clotheslines her down to retain control. Half Boston crab from Jade which she’s holding as we rejoin the broadcast. Paxley kicks her way free then tries a few roll ups before landing a kick to stun Jade. Paxley fires up with some running elbows then an enziguri. Jade takes a kick through the ropes, then a flipping ax kick from Paxley gets 2. They trade some elbows then Paxley adds kicks to get the better of things including a nice Rolling Thunder kick to drop Jade. Paxley up top, but Jade kicks her then climbs up with her but Paxley snaps her down. B-Fab, behind the ref’s back, yanks down Paxley so Bliss shows up. Bliss gets taken out by Michin, so Paxley hits her with a Rolling Thunder. Back in the ring Jade with a pump kick and Jaded to win.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Jade Cargill won in 9:06

Rating: 2 stars
Thoughts: Decent match, but Jade is kind of heatless and her work is disconnected because of that. Paxley looked OK here, which is a plus, but the finish docked this a bit.

After this break we’ll get the reveal of Danhausen’s evil experiment, assuming it wasn’t the reanimated Gingerbread Man.

We come back to Cathy talking with Damian Priest. Priest is pissed at Trick getting a title shot, but that’s what he gets for wasting time with R-Truth. He warns that he should have a title match. Fraxiom show up and they bicker a bit then next week one of them will take on Priest. Priest warns them this is a bad idea, he hurt Truth and he likes him so imagine what he’ll do to them.

Back to the ring, here’s Danhausen for his reveal. Danhausen is on the stage to talk, he plays with the crowd but knows there here to see the reveal of his most horrifying experiment. But before that he’s got a couple of things. Gunther shows up behind Danhausen, Danhausen with an “ah shit” before Gunther hits him. Gunther powerbombs Danhausen through a table and kicks over the decorations. Gunther drags Danhausen to the ring and looks for another powerbomb but the lights go out. Out of the Cloning Machine comes the minihausens. This amuses Gunther to no end as he just easily throws the little people around, he does sell for the wrestling one briefly before booting him down. Next Gunther just throws pumpkins at the minihausens, JBL would be proud. Gunther is having fun throwing the little guys around and sets one on a table then powerbombs another onto him through the table. There’s still one unbroken table and Gunther sets it up in the corner. We get a “gordbuster” line from Graves in an obvious pun. Gunther grabs a Sleeper on Danhausen but Danhausen points to the stage. The lights dim again and music hits, the cloth covered thing sits up and it’s Finn Balor as the Demon. Demon Finn heads to the ring, Gunther is stunned, and Balor stares him down. Elbows from Balor then kicks, Gunther chops him but Balor no sells and drops Gunther with an Eye of the Hurricane. Gunther removes his belt to hit Balor who again cares not then hits a Sling Blade. John Woo dropkick through the table by Balor. Gunther rolls out of the ring, Balor gets a ladder and uses it to ram Gunther onto the announce table. Balor sets up the ladder, climbs up top, and kills Gunther with a Coup de Grace through the table. Danhausen and Balor celebrate in the ring. Not a bad way to get the Demon back on the table, Balor’s kept that one pretty much out of sight since the Roman match years ago if memory serves. That sends us to break.
