The long-awaited next-gen update for the award-winning Game of the Year title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is finally hitting new-generation consoles next month. CD Projekt RED announced this week that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will be available on December 14. The Complete Edition will be available for the latest console generation, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC.

This new-gen update for The Witcher has been in the works for a while, and it’s finally coming out before the end of the year. The update also includes new content inspired by the popular Netflix TV series.

The Complete Edition will be available as a digital purchase for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with all main game, all the free DLCs, and both major story expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Anyone who already owns the previously released versions of the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Windows PC will also have access to a free next-gen update if they’ve upgraded their hardware.

CDPR has also confirmed that there will be a new physical edition for the new-gen version of The Witcher 3 released later on. Details on the rollout of the physical edition release for the new Complete Edition will be revealed at a later date.

The enhanced version of the iconic game will feature new visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original, including ray tracing support, faster load times for consoles, and the integration of a variety of mods. The update also includes brand-new DLC content inspired by Netflix’s live-action The Witcher television series.

CDPR will reveal the details on the new Netflix-inspired DLC content in a dedicated REDstreams event on Twitch slated for next week. The REDstreams event will also feature gameplay from the upcoming next-gen version.

Players who do not yet have PS5 or Xbox Series X/S consoles are also in luck. Players who currently own the game on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will also receive an update with a number of additions and improvements. The update will also include the Netflix-inspired DLC. More details on the Netflix DLC will be revealed later on.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was first released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC in May 2015. It later launched on the Nintendo Switch in October 2019. Since its initial release, the game has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
