Aljamain Sterling vs. Renan Barao at UFC 214 To Be Catchweight Fight

Aljamain Sterling’s fight against Renan Barao at UFC 214 won’t be a lightweight bout. Sterling revealed on Instagram Wednesday that the California State Athletic Commission has decreed that due to past weight cut issues by Baraeo, the fight will be held at catchweight.

Sterling said that the move is to make “the weight cut easier for” Barao, who had a notable issue back at UFC 177 where he had to be hospitalized in California after a bad weight cut and was removed from his fight with T.J. Dillashaw.

UFC 214 takes place on July 29th in Anaheim, California. The main card airs on PPV following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
