Chris Honeycutt Ready to Finish What He Started Against Paul Bradley

Chris Honeycutt spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Paul Bradley at Bellator 148 tonight. Check out the highlights:

On the rematch: “I wanted the rematch; I never start something without finishing. Paul and I didn’t finish it, so now I get to finish where I started. I trained four months for Paul and fought for seven minutes, and then I happened to be the one who walked out of the fight without and blood or marks of any sort. I was hoping to get back in the ring sooner because I was healthy, but some things are just not in my control, and they wanted to wait until Paul was healthy. Now I’m going to give Paul what he had coming to him the first time around.”

On youth being on his side: “I’m the younger fighter, and I’m continuing to grow. I’m not saying Paul isn’t growing either, but he’s been in the game for so long that how many strides can he really make between that fight and this fight? Especially after all the other years he’s been in the game? I’m still at the beginning of making big strides, and I feel like I’m gaining faster at this point. I’m adding more tools to my arsenal.”

On his striking: “My hands got better going into the last fight, and it started to show; my jab has gotten even better and faster now than what it was then. The confidence in my striking has doubled since last time. I’ve built upon that. I scratch my head wondering if he knows how far I’ve come and what he’s going to do.”

On getting back toward a title shot: “Getting that no-contest last fight put my forward moment toward the belt on pause. I think a nice TKO or knockout or three rounds of total domination, I can easily put myself in there as one of the top contenders. I don’t think too much of that because I know it’s in my future at some point. It’s inevitable.”
