Conor McGregor Close To Plea Deal In Assault Case

July 21, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

TMZ reports that Conor McGregor is close to reaching a plea deal that would see him avoid being deported and avoid jail time. He was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief and three counts of misdemeanor assault for attacking a UFC bus and injuring three fighters. He attempted to attack Khabib Nurmegomedov, but he was not injured.

Prosecutors have agreed to drop the felony to a misdemeanor, which will keep him in the US, as a felony involving violence could result in permanent deportation. He also faced seven years in jail, but instead prosecutors are open to probation. The deal isn’t set but is said to be down to the “fine points.” The deal should be done within days as McGregor is due for a Manhattan court appearance on Thursday.
