Dennis Bermudez Explains Callout of Frankie Edgar

August 8, 2016 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Dennis Bermudez recently spoke with mmajunkie.com, here are the highlights…

On His Win Over Rony Jason: “Rony Jason definitely brought a lot more to the table than I expected,” Bermudez said. “I thought he would gas a little harder. It appeared he was way more hungry coming off his suspension. I think being away from the cage made him hungry and he definitely brought it tonight.”

On Working From The Guard: “Man, I love a guy’s guard,” Bermudez said. “I feel very strong there. At my gym at Long Island MMA, we grind on the ground. … I think before I got to Long Island MMA, jiu-jitsu was the weakest part of my game. It took a little while, but they broke me and said, ‘This is where you need to work. This is where your flaws are.’ I’m really good at taking people down, I can hang with the best of them on the feet. So, we take people down and beat them up.”

On Calling Out Frankie Edgar: “The reason why I’m here in the UFC is to be a champion,” Bermudez said. “It’s not to make money, it’s not to be famous, it’s to be the champion. A win over Frankie Edgar puts me right where I want to be for a title shot.”
