Diego Brandao Gets Nine-Month Suspension For Failed UFC 195 Drug Test

Diego Brandao has been suspended for nine months for his failed drug test following UFC 195. MMAjunkie reports that Brandao accepted the nine-month suspension after testing positive for a marijuana metabolite at the event. The suspension is retroactive to the January 2nd date for the event, and Brandao can reduce his suspension by a month by completing an anti-doping educational program.

The USADA, who suspended Brandao, added, “Further, Brandao’s positive test also falls under the jurisdiction of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who may impose additional sanctions, including fines or a period of ineligibility that is longer than the period set forth above.”

Brandao lost to Brian Ortega via submission at the event and was released in the wake of the failed test announcement.
