Francis Ngannou says that he isn’t replacing Gervonta Davis in the latter’s planned fight against Jake Paul. Paul has been scheduled set to fight Davis in Miami on November 14th. However, the exhibition boxing match was thrown into disarray (per USA Today) when Davis allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel on October 27th.

The assault is alleged to have happened at a strip club where Rossel works as a waitress in Miami Gardens, Florida. Rossel accused Davis in a lawsuit of multiple incidents and alleged battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

MVP has said in a statement that they are reviewing the situation before deciding what to do next. That said, speculation has been rampant that the fight may be in jeopardy and that MVP is looking for possible replacements for Davis. Ngannou confirmed to TMZ that Paul’s team reached out, but said he turned them down.

You can see highlights below:

On Turning Paul’s Team Down:

“I’m like, ‘no bro, come on.’ I mean, don’t disrespect me like that.”

On Whether He’d Reconsider For More Money:

“If it was about the number, I would have tell you. I’m just not interested, it makes no sense for me. It’s not what I’m looking at right now… The fight makes no sense. That’s what I think, that’s my position.”

Ngannou’s last fight was in October of 2024. No word on when or if a replacement for Davis is coming. The Paul-Davis fight is currently scheduled to air on Netflix.
