Ian McCall Fires Manager, Then Asks For & Receives UFC Release
Ian McCall is starting off anew in MMA. McCall fired his longtime manager and asked for a release from the UFC, which was granted. MMAjunkie has confirmed the release with the UFC. McCall asked for the release after the UFC denied him a demand of $100,000 for his next fight.
McCall said that he is welcoming offers from other companies, but he may also consider new careers if a job offer comes up. He said that he almost got a job with a software development company to help develop a music and radio app recently, noting, “It just goes to show you that people are willing to offer me good money. There’s other options for me out there. Good, corporate options with benefits.”
McCall said that he let his manager go after his attempt to renegotiate with the UFC for a six-figure deal got a return offer of $22,000 to show and $22,000 to win. He said, “I want to explore my options. I’ve got one last good run in me, to go fight for a good solid couple of years, if I can keep my health up. As healthy as I am now, I can do that. The way I’ve tailored my training, it’s about getting in shape now. It’s more of a game at this point that I get to play to try and sell myself and see what I can pull off.”
He said that the highest bidder will determine where he goes, saying, “Either tell me I’m pretty or take me to lunch.” Ian McCall ends his UFC career at 2-3-1.
