Kimbo Slice Settles With Texas Commission Over Failed Drug Test
Kimbo Slice has settled with Texas’ Combative Sports Program over his failed drug test from Bellator 149. MMAjunkie spoke with Texas combative sports director Greg Alvarez, who said that Slice has agreed to a $2,500 fine and the revocation of his license to fight in Texas. Slice also agreed to waive his right to a hearing and promised to remain in compliance with “all laws and rules” of the department.
Slice tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone following his win over Dhafir Harris — which has been changed to a no-contest — and had an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone. Harris was hospitalized and suffered renal failure aftyer the fight.
The site says that settlement talks between Slice and the commission began after Slice was booked to face James Thompson at Bellator 158 in London. The upcom, ing fight won’t be overseen by any athletic commission from the Association of Boxing Commissions and will instead be regulated by the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA).
Slice’s license revocation will be noted in the ABC’s official administrative database, which means he could have problems being licensed by member commissions in the US.
