LC Davis Says Joe Warren Isn’t The Best MMA Fighter He’s Faced

September 16, 2015 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, L.C. Davis (23-6 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) spoke about his upcoming fight with Joe Warren (12-4 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) at Bellator 143 on September 25 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. It will air on Spike TV after preliminary fights on Spike.com. Here are highlights:

On if being a family man has changed his focus: “If anything it made me hungrier. It’s funny, because earlier in my career, I was 30 before I had my first kid. I used to look at fighters that had kids and wives and family lives and think I had an advantage over those guys. No way can they train as hard as me. No way can they get that third workout in like me because they’ve got to go burp the kid, take care of the kid, take care of the family. But, since I’ve had a kid, I’ve got a new perspective on it. It gives you more motivation, more drive and you’ve got an extra mouth to feed. If anything it just makes you hungrier.”

On how he deals with trash talk: “It doesn’t bother me either way, man. It doesn’t matter what’s said outside the cage. It’s all about what’s going on inside the cage. I’ve been doing this sport for a while now. This will be my thirtieth professional fight, so I pretty much feel like I’m mind-strong. My mental game is solid. I’m not going to let talking bother me. If anything it helps boost the fight up and sell more tickets, so I’m cool with it.”

On if Warren is the best MMA fighter he’s faced: “I definitely think he’s the best wrestler I’ve fought to date, but I don’t think he’s the best mixed martial artist I’ve fought to date. I think Tokoro has more experience and more skill in mixed martial arts, in my opinion. Not to downgrade Joe Warren, I respect what he’s done in the sport. He has won a couple world titles and definitely gets the job done. But, I feel like what he brings to the table is a little bit limited and I bring a little more to the table.”
