Marcos Galvao Plans to Fight Once More This Year

Marcos Galvao spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 156. The highlights are below:
On fighting again this year: “Most champions fight about twice a year. That’s my plan for this year. As a Bellator employee, I’m ready and willing to fight whenever they book me. My mind is clear. Now that I’m the champion, I have to remain focused.”
On the fight between him and Dantas being delayed from February: “I came down with a viral infection. I was feeling better than ever right before that. I was very well trained, mentally and physically. My camp and weight loss were perfect. But everything happens as God wills it.”
On Dantas’ team initially asking for Bellator to institute an interim title while he was out: “That’s not up to me. That’s for Scott Coker and Bellator to decide. If they ultimately decided it wasn’t the time for Dantas to fight for an interim belt, that’s between them. It’s outside of my control.”
On a possible fight in New York: “I already accomplished my first dream, which is to be champion. My second dream is to fight at home, in New York. Maybe one day we can fight at Madison Square Garden.”
