Michael Bisping Says Frankie Perez Doesn’t Have The ‘Cajones’ To Be In MMA
MMA Junkie reports that during an appearance on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Fight Night 74 coverage, Michael Bisping said Frankie Perez (10-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) doesn’t have what it takes to be in MMA. Perez defeated Sam Stout (21-12-1 MMA, 9-11 UFC) last night during the preliminary card of the event, but then announced his retirement. He later said that his family was a reason he was giving it up, but he’d still be a training partner for other UFC fighters.
Bisping said: “I am glad, and no offense to Frankie Perez, because I don’t know the guy, and I’m sure he’s a very charming individual and a good person, but if he retired after knocking someone out in his second UFC win, I would say he hasn’t got the cajones to really be in this sport. He said he’s sick of what it does to his body; he’s sick of feeling like this – well, guess what, this sport isn’t designed for everybody, and if you don’t enjoy it, then step away and let the real men do it.”
He also gave his thoughts on Stout, adding: “(Stout) just took three heavy knockouts, but this is a man I truly believe still has got some fight left in him. He got caught tonight, and, of course, he got caught in the last two fights. But yes, I would like to see Sam Stout fight one more time. If he gets stopped again, definitely call it a day. But me personally, I would like to see him try at least one more time.”
When asked about what Bisping had to say about him, Perez replied: “Bisping’s a clown, so it ain’t no big deal about that. Words don’t get to be, but you know what it is? I’m just choosing my family over this sport. I love this sport, but it was just time.”
