PFL Suspends Josh Copeland After Arrest For Domestic Violence

February 11, 2019 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

MMA fighter Josh Copeland has been suspended by the Professional Fighters League after he was arrested for a domestic violence incident earlier this month. MMA Fighting reports that the PFL has announced Copeland’s suspension after the arrest.

“The PFL has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence,” the organanization’s statement read. “Per our company policy, following his arrest, Josh Copeland has been suspended indefinitely.”

According to TMZ, Copeland was arrested on February 2nd after police were called in. They found Copeland’s wife with an “obvious bruise on her left eye, a cut and was bleeding. There was blood down the front of her face and neck.” She told police that the two were arguing and, after Copeland pushed her, she pushed back. The physical contact escalated, with the woman saying she slapped him in the face, before Copeland punched her in the face and threw her on the bed.

The wife also says that Copeland took her phone so that she couldn’t call for aid, and police found the phone in Copeland’s podcket. Copeland had redness and blood on his face, and claimed he didn’t remember punching her.

Copeland’s wife was taken to a nearby hospital while Copeland was arrested for second-degree assault and obstruction. A charge of child abuse was also booked in because the entire thing allegedly took place in front of their kid. Copeland has a court hearing next week on the charges.
