Phil Davis Enjoying the Pressure Of His Bellator 163 Title Fight
Phil Davis spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Liam McGeary at Bellator 163. Some highlights are below:
On McGeary saying he’s ready for Davis: “It’s just precious, his whole answers (about fighting me) are just precious. He don’t know no better. You know how kids are when they say things and they’re cute because they don’t realize they’re not faster than a race car? You’re going up against a grown man. This is not a game, it’s not a joke. You’re in the big leagues now.”
On the pressure of the fight: “I like the feeling of knowing that I’m in the semis or I’m in the finals, that the pressure’s on, that moment of do or die. I love that moment. I thrive in that moment and I’m so glad to be back in that moment. Do or die. All or nothing. That’s where I shine. That’s where I do my best work.”
On McGeary: “He’s tough and he’s going to put up the best fight of his life and is still going to come up with the ‘L,’ I used to like Liam, but I’ll tell you what: Out of all the guys I’ve fought, I’m going to like punching him in the face the least. He’s actually a pretty funny guy, but business is business and I’m going to have to come at this man like a spider monkey.”
