Robert Whittaker’s jiu-jitsu coach, Alex Prates, posted on Instagram that Whittaker wanted to go through with his UFC 234 fight all the way up to five minutes before he underwent surgery for a twisted and collapsed bowel and internal hernia of the intestine. Whittaker, of course, did not fight at UFC 234 and underweight surgery Sunday morning in Melbourne, Australia.
Whittaker is hoping to be back in the gym in four weeks.
