The Nurmagomedov/Ferguson fight has been scheduled four times but has never come to fruition due to different reasons. Ferguson is expected to be stripped of the interim UFC lightweight championship due to the injury.

Ferguson issued a statement to Instagram, noting that he was “Hurt, Frustrated, Angry And In Disbelief” over the situation and assuring fans it wasn’t an April Fool’s Day joke:

UFC 223 takes place this coming Saturday from Brooklyn, New York and airs live on PPV after prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
