Valentina Shevchenko Likely To Defend Against Katlyn Chookagian

November 23, 2019 | Posted by Joseph Lee

ESPN reports that UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentine Chevchenko will try for her third defense when she faces Katlyn Chookagian at UFC’s upcoming February 8 PPV. The event is likely to take place in Houston.

At this time it’s unknown if the show will be UFC 246 or UFC 247. That depends on whether or not Conor McGregor actually returns to fight on their January 18th show. Talks are currently ongoing. If he does come back, his return will be UFC 246 and the February card will be UFC 247. Shevchenko has a record of 18-3 but is currently 4-0 after moving to Flyweight.

Shevchenko (18-3), considered one of the best female fighters in the world, is 4-0 since moving down to 125. She successfully defended her belt twice this year, against Jessica Eye and Liz Carmouche.

Chookagian (13-2) has won five of her past six fights. She earned this shot by defeating Jennifer Maia via decision earlier this month at UFC 244. All eight of her UFC fights (6-2) have come down to a decision.
