411 was in attendance at the San Diego Comic-Con Panel for Netflix’s The Witcher, where the new trailer was revealed. You can see the trailer that was revealed for the upcoming series below, which teases plenty of action, magic, monsters and everything you’ve come to expect from the franchise.

During the panel, Henry Cavill discussed being a big fan of the games and campaigning for the role of Geralt before the series was even given the go-ahead. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich said that Cavill called her every day to make sure that he would get the role, and that she met him after she started writing the series and couldn’t get the idea of the Man of Steel star as Geralt out of her head when she was scripting. She added that they are honoring the source material of the books and said that the series is “in addition” to the Andrzej Sapkowski, fleshing out more of the flashbacks.

Cavill also talked about playing Geralt, noting that the idea that Witchers have no emotions is a “myth.” While it helps the Witchers do their jobs of hunting monsters, it isn’t true in Geralt’s case.

The panel revealed a few clips from the series, including one with Anya Chalotra as Yennefer in which she’s talking to a small baby on a beach who has died. She says she’s sorry and that they are just “vessels,” and the baby has cheated the game. Another features Ciri (Freya Allan) alone in a forest, looking for Isadora (Alexandra Szucs). She finds herself drawn to a glowing light, but it’s just the sun on the horizon. SHe gets surprised by a group of female warriors and says she’s lost before the group’s leader puts her weapon down and tells Ciri to follow her.

The Witcher will debut its first season on Netflix later this year. Our full set of live tweets from the panel is below:
