UPDATED: Alec Baldwin Arrested For Misdemeanor Assault After Allegedly Punching Man in Parking Spot Dispute

UPDATE: According to TMZ, Alec Baldwin may have a good defense in his assault case, because there is some evidence he did not punch his alleged victim. Wojciech Cieszowski, who took a parking spot from Baldwin, stated that struck him with his hand. That is more consistent with a slap than a punch. There is surveillance video, but it’s reportedly very grainy. You can see what appears to be a shoving match between the two men but it’s hard to make out if Baldwin actually struck Cieszowski. The site notes that if the two men were shoving each other, Baldwin could make the case it was mutual combat and not assault, and therefore not a crime.

ORIGINAL: Alex Baldwin was arrested on Friday after he allegedly punched the main in the middle of a dispute over a parking spot in New York City. Variety has confirmed that Baldwin was arrested for misdemeanor assault after the incident, which took place near the actor’s home.

According to TMZ, Baldwin had someone holding the spot for him, but another man swooped in and took the spot. Baldwin became angry and an argument ensued, which escalated until Baldwin allegedly punched the man in the jaw.

Baldwin was charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment and given a desk appearance ticket. He has been released.
