On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame, Booker T talked about the fear of getting heat that he saw among wrestlers when he arrived in WWE. While telling co-host Brad Gilmore about being warned not to take naps in the locker room, Booker said it bothers him to hear wrestlers say they didn’t stand up for themselves years ago because they were afraid of losing their jobs. You can check out his comments below:

On Wrestlers Being Afraid Of Getting Heat:

“It was like that around there. The guys were really scared about the thing called ‘getting heat.’ If you got heat, you could really start getting it from the boys. And I never really thought about that.”

On Wrestlers Who Didn’t Speak Up For Fear Of Getting Fired:

“Well some of the guys, it’s like anything, man. A bully will keep messing with you if you don’t fight back. And that’s why when I hear a lot of these stories from these guys that worked in the business, and they talk about what happened back then. And they weren’t willing to say anything because they didn’t want to get fired — God, man, it irks me. It really irks me. It really does, because I guess I’ve been willing to get fired a lot of times as far as the business goes.

“The only thing I always said is, ‘The only thing you can do is fire me.’ And when I hear guys talk like that, man, it really hurts me. ‘I couldn’t stand up because that guy had more stroke than I did, and I could get fired.’ You end up getting fired anyway. So why not tell somebody to go take a hike or go jump in the lake? When I really want to get my point across, I say go jump in a lake.”
