When Eddie Murphy returns to his role of King Akeem in Coming 2 America, it will be with a somewhat softer rating than his first time around. The MPAA has given the film a PG-13 rating “for crude and sexual content, language and drug content.” That’s compared to an R rating for the 1988 original.

The film stars Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, and Louie Anderson reprising their roles from the original film. New additions are Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor. Releasing on Amazon Prime on March 5th, it is described as follows:

“Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, Coming 2 America continues to follow newly-crowned King Akeem and his trusted confidante Semmi embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.”
