Batman: Hush Star Hopes Fans Give Robert Pattinson a Chance as the Dark Knight
Robert Pattinson’s casting as Batman has drawn a strong and varied reaction, but Batman: Hush star Jason O’Mara hopes fans give him a chance. O’Mara, who has played the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne in several DC Animated films, spoke with Comic Book Movie about playing the role and was asked what he thought of Pattinson being cast in Matt Reeves’ upcoming live-action film.
O’Mara said of Pattinson’s casting and the initial fan reaction, “I think what’s key in all of this for any actor playing Batman, including this new fella Robert Pattinson who’s got his work cut out, and by the way, I think everyone should give the kid a chance, but at the same time I think what’s really important is that we’re all just there to serve this character. Batman was around long before I was born and he’ll be around long after I’m gone.”
He went on to say of being in the fraternity of actors who have played the role, “You wear the Bat symbol for a short amount of time and all you can really hope to do is leave it in a slightly better place than where you found it and that’s it. You move on and so any opportunity you get, you just do the best work that you can and it’s up for others to decide whether it’s any good or not.”
Reeves’ Batman film will reportedly begin production in late 2019 or early 2020. No release date is officially set. Meanwhile, Batman: Hush is now available on home video and 411’s review of the movie is here.
